Grants
Purpose
To provide counties/clusters with funds and incentives to plan and conduct Minnesota 4-H horse program educational activities. If counties/clusters agree to meet the requirements explained below, they can apply to the Minnesota 4-H Horse Association for grant money to help cover expenses as long as funds are available. Activities must be more than riding lessons. To receive the full $300 grant all Application Forms with attachments and Financial/Evaluations must be received within the time specified.
Grant Procedure
- To MN 4-H Horse Association
- December 1st or 30 days prior to event.
- Application Form
- Written Plan Achieving Goals
- Schedule
- Postmarked 45 Days following event/activity.
- Financial/Evaluation Report
- December 1st or 30 days prior to event.
- Educational Goals
- Two realistic and measurable goals that meet your groups educational need. Include them on the schedule.
- Complete written evaluation of those activities following your event.
- Content
- Present information and answer questions about the MN 4-H Horse Project (project requirements, rule book, library, web site etc.) minimum 1/2 hour.
- Include at least 2 or more of the following topics. Minimum 1/2 hour per topic.

- Facilities
- Safe and conducive to learning
- To maintain the quality of your event.
- Instructors should be knowledgeable adult or Jr Leaders with a strong 4-H background.
- Use of 4-H Certified Judges is recommended.
- Western Heritage clinics must use a Western Heritage certified instructor.
- Funding - $300 maximum
- Minnesota 4-H Horse Association has limited funds for grants.
- Counties or clusters eligible.
- Pre event - May receive 1/2 requested funds if requested on the Application.
- Post event - Grant financial/evaluation report is required within 45 days.
- If financial/evaluation report is not submitted further grants will not be approved.
