MN 4-H Educational Grant Program

Grant Procedure

Purpose: To provide counties/clusters with funds and incentives to plan and conduct Minnesota 4-H Horse Program educational events / activities.  If counties/clusters agree to meet the requirements outlined below, they can apply to the Minnesota 4-H Horse Association for grant money to help cover expenses as long as funds are available.  To receive the full $300 grant the Application Form, with attachments, and Financial/Evaluation Report must be received within the time specified.

Activities must be more than riding lessons

Grant Procedure

I.  To MN 4-H Horse Association

1.  December 1st or 30 days prior to the event, as long as funds are available. 

A.      Application Form

B.      Written Plan Achieving Goals

C.      Event Schedule, with activities and times listed, must implement the goals

2.  45 Days following event/activity

A.      Financial/Evaluation Report

II.  Educational Goals

1.  At least 2 realistic and measurable goals that meet your groups educational need.  Include them on the schedule.

2.  Complete written evaluation of those activities following your event.

 

III. Required Contents

1.  A minimum of ½ hour to present information and answer questions about the Minnesota 4-H Horse Program (new project material, rule book, program requirements, library, Achievement book, web site www.mn4hhorse.com, etc.)

 

2.  Include at least 2 or more topics from the list below – a minimum of ½ hour per topic

IV. To maintain the quality of your event:

1.  Instructors should be knowledgeable adult or Jr. Leaders with a strong 4-H background.

2.  It is recommended that you use a certified 4-H judge as an instructor.

3 Western Heritage clinics must use a 4-H Western Heritage certified instructor.

 

V.      Facilities:

1.  Safe and conducive to learning

 

VI.  Funding

1.  Counties/clusters may request $300 maximum

2 Counties/clusters may receive $100, start up money, before the event if requested on the application form.

 

All counties/clusters MUST submit a completed Grant Financial/Evaluation Report within 45 days after the event.  If it is not received within 45 days, the full amount will not be awarded and further grant applications will not be approved
